Colorful Cosmetics And Jewelry By Joe Crews

Colorful Cosmetics and Jewelry. By Joe Crews One of the most frequent and mistaken complaints that people make against religion is that it is too restrictive. In this permissive age when all the emphasis seems to be upon 'doing your own thing,' an unreasonable attitude of self-will has developed.

  1. A FEW weeks ago I read a little pamphlet written by Joe Crews entitled, Colorful Cosmetics and Jewelry. The title and picture on the cover of the little pamphlet easily caught my attention because of my past struggles on this very subject.
  2. What The Bible Says About Colorful Cosmetics & Jewelry book. Read reviews from world’s largest community for readers. Booklet about A FIRE ESCAPE RELIG.

Creeping Compromise is one of the few books written by Joe Crews about the spiritual dangers we face in our times. Joe Crews (1924-1994) was the founder of Amazing Facts ministry. Most of his efforts were focused on helping people to know Jesus and understand the Bible. This book is different and it’s addressed to those who want to perfect their walk with God. There are many ethical topics discussed in the book. Sadly, you can’t hear similar messages today from the pulpits of most of the churches. May it be a blessing for all those confused or disappointed of what’s happening among those who claim to follow Jesus.

(To read about my experience look for the article, An Appealto Young Ladies, in Vol. 3, Issue 3 of Home Church Herald). I foundthe points made were clear and conclusive regarding this subject, butit also laid down some principles which every Christian should liveby, and I would like to share these with you.Colorful cosmetics and jewelry by joe crews list

Our motivation to live outChristianstandards and to reform should be based upon our love for God. Thisis the basis for true religion, but should our love for Christ wane, any kind of self-denial required of us, whether it concerns dress, adornment, diet, watching movies, etc., quickly becomes unsavory andburdensome; and we begin to blame these restrictions and/or themessenger presenting these restrictions of our “freedom” for anyunhappiness we may be experiencing. I like how Joe Crews usesmarriage as an object lesson to give the reader a differentperspective on the subject: he says,

“Marriage is the most restrictiveexperience that any human being can voluntarily assume in this world, aside from his spiritual commitment to Christ ... The wedding vowsare undoubtedly among the most narrow, rigid commitments anyhuman being can make in his lifetime. If restrictions and rules arethe cause of so much misery, then weddings should be the mostmiserable, unhappy experiences for all concerned. But not so! Theyare the happiest events. Why?... They love each other” ―(Colorful Cosmetics & Jewelry, p. 5).

Love, therefore, must be themotivatingfactor of all our actions. Most of us can probably agree that theunhappiest people on earth are those who are married, but no longerlove each other. This same can be true for the Christians who aremarried to Christ, but do not love him. What is the solution? Fall inlove again.

As true Christians we will notpush thelimit of Christian standards, and hope that it will still beacceptable to God, but we will avoid anything questionable. We willnot dwell in the gray areas, but we will rather safely follow thepath marked out for us by Christ. Our thoughts should not be, “Howmuch can I get by with without getting in trouble?” But, “Howmuch can I do to please God whom I love?” If we love God, we willobey the light as soon it is revealed to us concerning any matter.

Nothing should be worth more thanhaving God’s blessing and approval. When I think of all the thingsthat I have given up for Christ, the jewelry, the cosmetics, theworldly dress, all the worldly associations, the esteem of my peers, the affection of so called “friends”, their worth does notcompare with the eternal joys of heaven and the blessing of God inthis life. I am reminded of Moses,

“Choosing rather to sufferafflictionwith the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for aseason; esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than thetreasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of thereward” ― (Hebrews 11:25-26).

If my rejection of these earthlytreasures means the approval of heaven, then I can truly say thatHeaven is cheap enough. I traded those fading pleasures for lastingjoys, a loving Father, and a merciful Saviour. What a deal! Dearreader, won’t you do the same?

As the day of the Lord drawsnearer, hard times will arise. We will be tested to the utmost. We will bethoroughly tried. Like Lot and his family, we will be required toleave all behind. I pray that in that day I and each one of us willstill have the love of Christ in our hearts, and be able to say,“Heaven is cheap enough.” Dear reader, I leave you with onethought: If we are not willing to surrender the toys, pleasures, orcustoms of this world to gain Jesus, will heaven ever be cheapenough, or will it cost too much?
